A coral recruit grows on a terra cotta tile. The tile was placed by researchers prior to coral spawning season as part of a project to monitor coral reproductive success, including juvenile coral growth and survivorship, at 30 sites along the Florida Reef Tract in the Florida Keys. The study will assess species-specific patterns of coral recruitment as well as temporal, spatial and physical characteristics that may facilitate various levels of coral recruitment.
