The FWC cooperates with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to evaluate stocking success of striped bass in the St. Johns River. Researchers use angler surveys along with photo estimation of Morone species (both striped bass and hybrid striped bass) to track year-to-year changes in the population. To get the best estimate, they conduct photo surveys when fish gather in areas such as Silver Glen Springs that serve as thermal refuges during the summer.
