The Office of the Director is responsible for managing a budget of more than $61,000,000, which supports all programs and operations of the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI). The Director leads the science sections and oversees Institute-wide functions.

The Office of the Director is also responsible for the Research Operations section, led by the Deputy Director, which provides human resources, facilities, grant administration and budget-related support.

FWRI has more than 600 staff members, half of which work from the Institute’s headquarters in St. Petersburg. The remaining staff are strategically located throughout the state near the resources they study.
